How do I install the latest PLi® software onto my box?

In this wiki section, you will find a series of howto's and explanation's of the different methods of installing a new firmware image (software) onto your set top boxes, that our PLi® software currently support.

Tip: If you have never installed any PLi® software before, it is a good idea to run through these wiki pages first, prior to doing an install, to further help you with the process.

Simply click on the DM name and model number below to learn howto do the following;

ET7X00
Download and unzip the file from http://openpli.org/download/xtrend/et7x00/. Copy the folder on an FAT32 formatted USB-Device and plug it in before booting.

  1. Unzip compressed file.
  2. Copy the "et7x00" folder to a USB Pen Drive.
  3. Power off or reboot the receiver with the mains switch on the rear. Connect USB Pen Drive.
  4. Power on receiver with the mains switch on the rear.
  5. After rebooting or cold start the power LED will blink several times after some time. At that moment press the power button on the front panel.
  6. Flashing of the image will start
  7. Booting will start automatically once the flashing process has completed

Note: In order to load the image automagically, rename the file called "noforce" to "force"

ET9X00
Download and unzip the file from http://openpli.org/download/xtrend/et9x00/. Copy the folder on an FAT32 formatted USB-Device and plug it in before booting.

  1. Unzip compressed file.
  2. Copy the "ET9000" folder, respectively the "ET9x00" folder, to a USB Pen Drive.
  3. Power off or reboot the receiver with the mains switch on the rear. Connect USB Pen Drive.
  4. Power on receiver with the mains switch on the rear.
  5. After rebooting or cold start a message like 'image found, press ok' appears on the screen.
  6. After pressing 'ok' a message appears 'Update in progress'.
  7. After the update is ready the receiver will reboot automatically. You could remove the USBstick first or you just wait.
  8. Follow the procedure on the screen.
  9. After making the right choices your box will be ready with new firmware.

In case you have made a backup with the Autobackup plugin, the procedure is as follows.

  1. After you have downloaded and unpacked an image go to 2
  2. Put the USB stick into the front USB input.
  3. You'll see a message on the screen like 'no plugins found'.
  4. Go to menu - plugins - autobackup and change 'Backup location'to media/usb.
  5. Change 'Create Autoinstall' to 'on'.
  6. Press the yellow key for a manual backup on the USBstick.
  7. After the backup has finished push the green key and leave the menu.
  8. Reboot the box and follow this procedure.
  9. After rebooting or cold start a message like 'image found, press ok' appears on the screen.
  10. After flashing the image, the box reboots and if you won't do anything, the box reinstalls completely like it was before.
