**NOTE:** HD-TV is often broadcasted in DVB-S2. You can NOT watch channels on a DVB-S2 transponder this way as the DM7020, DM7000, DM600PVR, DM500+, DM500, DM5620 and DM5600 don not have a DVB-S2 tuner. You can watch HD-TV on DVB-S transponders, but those are becoming rare.

If you can do the streaming as shown above then this should be very straight forward, **BUT** your //LAN// has to be __setup properly__. Here is a real example off a DM500 on the Measat 3 C Band satellite (in Asia) of the Nat Geo HD channel. Works allot better off the DM7020 though.

1) Make sure your DM box is connected to your **[[E1SystemNetwork local area network (LAN)]]**. //Most important//
1) You need to know the **[[E1SystemNetwork IP address]]** of your DM Box. //Most important//
1) **Web-X-TV** the most common way of doing it, this uses the Zapstream application which is part of our PLi® image that you are using. This is why PLi® images stream over the [[E1SystemNetwork local network]] so well.
Make sure you change the example IP address 192.168.1.100 to the **[[E1SystemNetwork IP address]]** of your DM box. However each time you zap / change channel, you will want to run this setup again.

Users of both the MAC and Linux boxes, can use the VLC applications as shown above if you want to. Here we will look at other ways of doing it, mainly using an application called "Mplayer" which comes as standard on both distro's (MAC and most flavours of Linux).
This mini howto assumes;
- You have mplayer installed on your MAC
- You have mplayer installed on your Linux box
If you are using **OSX** then try this from terminal (bash)
%%mplayer -ac mad "$(wget -q -O - http://root:dreambox@192.168.1.100/video.m3u)"%%
Or if you use **Unix/linux** with say KDE try this from shell
%%mplayer -ac mad -ao sdl "$(wget -q -O - http://root:dreambox@192.168.1.100/video.m3u)"%%

1)You will need to download and install the application called VLC on your computer [[http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Click here]]
Now we have there (3) options for streaming from your DM box back to your PC or other device.
1) Web-X-TV the most common way of doing it, this uses the ZapStream application which is part of our PLi® image that you are using. This is why PLi® images stream over the local network so well.
1) VLC - directly addressing ZapStream on your DM box, which also follows the channels selected on the DM box and no web browser required.

The downside of this option is you have click on the vpid link every time you change channel. Unlike the WEB-X-TV option that follows your DM box.
Additions:
You do not need a web browser to take advantage of this PLi® feature. To many this is a plus (not having to use a web browser), and I for one use it to play music from DM box on my desktop when I am in the office. Who needs MP3's when there is so much great satellite radio out there //(just my personal comment)//.

You will now see VLC playing the video and audio stream from your DM box. Remember when you change channel on your DM box the stream will also change for you automatically.
