It is very simple to flash your Xtrend ET9X00 receiver using an USB stick. Just follow these instructions: Download and unzip the file from http://openpli.org/download/xtrend/et9x00/.
1) Copy the folder on an FAT32 formatted USB-Device and plug it in before booting.
1) Unzip compressed file.
1) Copy the "ET9000" folder to a USB Pen Drive.
1) Power off or reboot the receiver with the mains switch on the rear. Connect USB Pen Drive.
1) Power on receiver with the mains switch on the rear.
1) After rebooting or cold start a message like 'image found, press ok' appears on the screen.
1) After pressing 'ok' a message appears 'Update in progress'.
1) After the update is ready the receiver will reboot automatically.
1) You could remove the USBstick first or you just wait.
1) Follow the procedure on the screen.
1) After making the right choices your box will be ready with new firmware.
In case you have made a backup with the Autobackup plugin, the procedure is as follows.
1) After you have downloaded and unpacked an image go to 2
1) Put the USB stick into the front USB input.
1) You'll see a message on the screen like 'no plugins found'.
1) Go to menu - plugins - autobackup and change 'Backup location'to media/usb.
1) Change 'Create Autoinstall' to 'on'.
1) Press the yellow key for a manual backup on the USBstick.
1) After the backup has finished push the green key and leave the menu.
1) Reboot the box and follow this procedure.
1) After rebooting or cold start a message like 'image found, press ok' appears on the screen.
1) After flashing the image, the box reboots and if you won't do anything, the box reinstalls completely like it was before.

It is very simple to flash your VU+ Duo receiver using an USB stick. Just follow these instructions:
1) Format your USB stick with a FAT32 file system
1) Create a folder "vuplus" in the root directory of the USB disk (note: this HAS to be lower case!)
1) Create a folder "duo" in the "vuplus" directory you've just created (again, this HAS to be lower case!)
1) Download the USB image of your choice (this is an image specific for USB flashing, you can not use the standard .nfi file!)
1) Extract the USB image (it is a .zip archive) on your PC using your favorite unzip tool
1) Copy the three files that are in the zip archive to the "duo" directory on the USB stick
1) Switch your VU+ Duo off (power-off, not stand-by!)
1) Insert the prepared USB stick into the front of your VU+ Duo receiver
1) Switch your VU+ Duo on
1) Follow the installation instructions on the screen
